Durst digital printing

Sao Paulo, Brazil - Based in the south of São Paulo, Brazil, GrowLabel, founded in 2008 by José Barboza da Silva, was initially created to serve the agribusiness segment by supplying labels, adhesive labels and variable data printing. However, over time and following the company's growth, new technologies were added, such as flexography and other businesses that are being prospected.

“Our father already came from that segment and had many contacts. He was the one who, from the beginning, expanded the company's business by prospecting new opportunities in other niches”, says Alessandra Gaspari, administrative director of GrowLabel.

And, as part of these changes and expansions, the time had come to invest in digital printing technology for label production. “There is a trend towards greater printing speed, with a drop in print runs and an increase in the number of SKUs from the same customer”, highlights Raphael Bigal, commercial director at GrowLabel. “We also have a demand for increasingly faster delivery times, which led us to think about digital as a possibility.”

The company has been analyzing the feasibility of adding digital printing to its production park for some time. In 2016, on a visit to Drupa, Raphael discovered Durst's Tau platform for the first time. “We went to the fair specifically to see the Durst stand. However, it was not the time to invest that year”, he emphasizes. “At the time, we needed to make other prior investments to make digital technology consistently viable.”

“In the meantime, we invested a lot in management and evaluation of results, business margin, precise metrics and other aspects that, today, gave us the confidence to invest in a new technology, such as digital printing for our company”, reinforces Alessandra.

Now, with the decision to invest made, the Tau 330 RSC has finally arrived at the GrowLabel printing park. “Why Durst? The answer is obvious. The quality and all the support behind the company, things that no other company offers”, says Raphael.

Already in operation, the Tau 330 RSC is in full production – and showing results. “There are jobs where we have seen speed gains and savings of up to 50%”, says Raphael. “In terms of delivery speed, we can save up to a week in terms of delivery time compared to flexography.”
“Today, we serve segments whose quality level is enormous, such as pharmaceuticals, food and supplements. In other words, we need quality and the Tau 330 RSC will allow us to achieve this level of demand, with the benefits of digital printing”, adds Raphael.
