Aufruf an Südtiroler Unternehmen sich mit Sponsoring zu beteiligen
Brixen, Italien - 02.03.2021 – Durst, Hersteller von zukunftsweisenden digitalen Druck- und Produktionstechnologien, startet das Pilotprojekt „Sicherheit an Südtiroler Schulen“, um in den Bildungseinrichtungen eine bestmögliche Sicherheit zu gewährleisten. Neben der allgemein geltenden Maskenpflicht, Hygiene- und Abstandsregeln und Testvorgaben, stehen hierfür auch technische Lösungen zur Verfügung. Die Durst Group hat Ende 2020 mit Durst Habitat ein mit >99,9% Effizienz zertifiziertes Luftdesinfektionssystem mit UV-C Technologie eingeführt, das bereits von vielen Betrieben mit Publikumsverkehr eingesetzt wird, um ihre Kunden und Mitarbeitern in geschlossenen Räumen zu schützen. Im Rahmen des Pilotprojekts hat die Durst Group jetzt der Fachoberschule für Wirtschaft, Grafik und Kommunikation in Brixen 20 Durst Habitats für die Klassenräume kostenlos bereitgestellt. Diese Installation dient der Erprobung im Schuleinsatz und zugleich als Aufruf an die Südtiroler Unternehmen und Unternehmer, sich der Initiative anzuschließen. Die Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft empfiehlt dezidiert technische Lösungen gerade für Bildungseinrichtungen einzusetzen, in denen es mit einem einfachen Stoßlüften nicht getan ist.
„Durst Habitat ist eine technische Lösung, die wir ergänzend zu der Maskenpflicht, Hygiene- und Distanzregeln in unserer Firmenzentrale einsetzen“, sagt Christoph Gamper, CEO und Mitinhaber der Durst Group. „Wir maximieren damit die Sicherheit in den Meeting- und Aufenthaltsräumen und hatten bisher keinen Infektionsfall innerhalb des Unternehmens. Wir testen unsere Mitarbeiter regelmäßig und hatten auch genug Verdachtsfälle, diese hatten aber ihren Ursprung im privaten Bereich. Mit dem Pilotprojekt möchten wir auch in den Bildungseinrichtungen die Maximierung der Schutzmaßnahmen forcieren. Mit unserer Initiative möchten wir ein Beispiel erschaffen, wo sich Unternehmen unkonventionell zusammentun, um die Problematik für unsere Kinder und Jugendlichen erträglicher und ihre Schulen zu einem sicheren Begegnungsort zu machen.“

Die Durst Group ruft Südtiroler Unternehmen und Unternehmer auf, sich der Initiative anzuschließen und Durst Habitat Luftdesinfektionssysteme für Klassenräume in Schulen ihrer Wahl zu sponsern. Für dieses Projekt werden die Durst Habitats zum Selbstkostenpreis inklusive Installation bereitgestellt. Aufgrund der zu erwartenden hohen Nachfrage an dem Sponsorship und den kurzfristig benötigten Stückzahlen, ist die Durst Group gerade dabei, die Produktionskapazität zu skalieren. Hierfür werden weitere Montagekräfte benötigt, die im Rahmen einer Gemeinschaftsproduktion auch von Mitarbeitern von anderen Unternehmen, die sich in Kurzarbeit befinden, nach einer kurzen Anlernphase realisiert werden können.

Durst starts the "PREMISE" project with the Free University of Bolzano and TechnoAlpin
Brixen, Italy - 15.02.2021 - Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, is starting the EU-funded project PREMISE with the Free University of Bozen (unibz). The manufacturer of snowmaking systems, TechnoAlpin, was selected as a further industrial partner. The project, headed by Johann Gamper, Professor and Vice Rector for Research at the Faculty of Computer Science, aims to develop a technical infrastructure with database technologies that enables predictive maintenance measures on production facilities. The project runs until July 2022 and will be extended until the end of 2022 depending on the status.
“In the PREMISE project, we are calculating appropriate algorithms that make predictions about maintenance requirements, including for sub-areas,” says Johann Gamper. “In this project, we can test technologies that we have been researching for years with our industrial partners on the basis of specific case studies and adapt them to specific requirements. We are thus contributing to technology transfer - an important mission of unibz."
"We sell our digital printing systems worldwide and for this reason we equip them with analytics software," says Christian Casazza, Customer Service Director of the Durst Group. "The combination of intelligent sensors and software evaluation for component and machine data forms the basis for predictive maintenance - the detection of error states or the need for service or replacement of spare parts "in advance" so that production can be adjusted accordingly. With the “PREMISE” project, we go one step further and use artificial intelligence methods to make these predictions and interventions before an emergency even more efficient and to be able to apply them even to complex, causal relationships. This is a decisive advantage, especially in times when international traffic is restricted."
Specific sensors are built into Durst printing machines that provide information on the functioning and condition of individual components and parts. To prevent machine downtime, there are specifications and cycles for maintenance, but every printing press has different production-related factors and / or loads that affect productivity and operating times. For this reason, algorithms are required that make predictions when something will happen or maintenance in a sub-area outside the standard will be necessary. All of this serves to increase the machine availability, even in remote production locations, and to minimize or plan production downtimes.
“The PREMISE project is a further component in our vision of a smart factory, where networked infrastructures, intelligent production systems and innovative software enable an automated business process,” says Michael Deflorian, Business Unit Manager Software & Solutions of the Durst Group. “With the predictive maintenance developed in the project Framework and the machine learning techniques used will in future trigger the maintenance of the printing systems independently in order to guarantee predictable and trouble-free operation."
Durst is back in business – Phase II
Durst was able to resume partial operations at the beginning of April, as the printing systems for the label and packaging industry were classified as systemically important. Now the Italian government has launched phase 2 to resume public life.
As an export-oriented company, Durst - starting immediately and in compliance with all necessary safety regulations - can start up production. On May 4 at the latest, the majority of the Durst’ler can be reached again at the headquarters in Brixen and the Customer Experience Center is then available again for customer appointments, machine demonstrations and acceptance tests.
Of course, Durst does not expect an immediate return to "normality", which is why concepts for virtual presentations and webcasts have been developed in the past few weeks and are now being implemented in a timely manner for interaction with the stakeholders.

Durst helps DCP reconfigure Smart Shop within hours after business meltdown
A pioneering company facing a business meltdown has reconfigured its software in 24 hours and is now producing face masks. DCP Digitaldruck & Profiltechnik in Gütersloh, Germany, secured at least two weeks’ work on the first day it stated its new online business, which includes the ability to design your own bespoke mask.
The super-fast turnaround to set up www.i-product.de was enabled through Durst’s Smart Shop and Smart Editor software. It also includes online design possibilities. Driven by the mantra of innovation, Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital production technologies, offers complete solutions from pixel to output as it continues its transformation into a highly integrated process service provider, which includes expanding its world-class software solutions.
DCP, which has been supplying graphics and large format digital prints to the event and trade fair for more than 20 years, had virtually all this work demand wiped out due to the cancellation of trade fairs and events across the world. It also knew that large quantitities of masks are in demand to help combat Covid-19.
Oliver Knaup, Managing director of DCP, said: “We have been losing about 90% of our normal business for large format work in the exhibition and events industry, so we had to do something quickly. Durst provided so much incredible support so fast. I contacted them on a Friday and that same day they reconfigured the Smart Shop and Durst Editor software. Over the weekend we took some photos of the new mask opportunities and then started on the Monday. We are absolutely delighted with our Smart Shop software and the support from Durst. We now have a new template and new product on the web and you have a perfect marketing tool with the online shop.”
Despite sewing expertise among staff at a premium, DCP, a long-time Durst customer, is already producing up to 1,000 face masks a day. “The user friendliness of the flexible software has already been praised by many customers and means we can offer a large design portfolio – and now face masks,” said Mr Knaup. “We see the production of masks as our contribution to the preservation of jobs for our employees, the economy as a whole and a help for everyone. We also produce white masks, which we supply to pharmacies or, on request, protective masks with company logo.
“Durst continues to provide outstanding support in a true partnership. And now it’s letting us serve the wider community with protective masks in the global fight against coronavirus.”

Le cœur lourd, nous fermons notre siège de la forme 16. Mars à 03. Avril. Heureusement, nous n'avons plus de cas et nous nous en sortons tous bien. Pourtant, par solidarité avec nos familles et par respect pour les médecins et le personnel médical, nous faisons ce qui nous aide le plus: nous contribuons activement à stopper la propagation du virus et à restons confinés à la maison.
Nous avons pris la question très au sérieux dès le début et nous continuons de le faire. Nous aidons partout où nous le pouvons - par exemple, avec des masques et des combinaisons de protection pour l'hôpital de Brixen, qui, comme de nombreuses institutions, souffre actuellement d'un manque de ressources.
Toutes nos filiales sont actives - avec les restrictions qui s'appliquent dans les pays respectifs. Une équipe réseau connectée travaille également pour le siège social en « home-office » dans la mesure du possible. Les mesures de sécurité les plus strictes sont en place pour les employés qui doivent rester dans l'entreprise. Les filiales ont stocké des pièces de rechange par mesure de précaution, et la logistique s’agissant des encres est maintenue.
Nous utiliserons ces deux semaines pour suivre la situation et élaborer des scénarios puis, espérons-le - en tenant compte du statut juridique et seulement si nous pouvons assurer la sécurité des employés et de leurs familles - redémarrer la production.

FESPA 2020 EVENTS POSTPONED
In light of the rapidly evolving situation regarding COVID-19 in mainland Europe, and in close dialogue with its national Associations and exhibitors, FESPA has today taken the decision to postpone FESPA Global Print Expo 2020, European Sign Expo 2020 and Sportswear Pro 2020, originally scheduled to take place at IFEMA Madrid from 24th to 27th March 2020.
Based on feedback from exhibitors, FESPA will now seek to reschedule the events for a later date, precise timing and venue still to be determined based on venue availability.
FESPA CEO Neil Felton explains: “Until this week, our actions with regard to COVID-19 – including the pre-emptive action taken in February regarding exhibiting companies from China – have been informed by guidance from the relevant international and national authorities, with the primary objective of safeguarding the health and wellbeing of exhibitors and visitors. However, in light of the recent spread of the virus in specific areas of mainland Europe, we have consulted with our stakeholders and have concluded that it is in the best interests of our community to defer the events to a later date.”
FESPA will provide an update regarding revised event dates in due course.

The Brixen Water Light Festival powered by durst celebrates this year its fourth edition and takes place from 8th to 31st May 2020 in Brixen / South Tyrol.

Zubau Bürogebäude Durst Phototechnik
Bau eines vierstöckigen Bürogebäudes im Westen der bestehenden Modellbauhalle. Im Erdgeschoss sowie im 2. und 3. OG befinden sich Büroflächen für den Kundendienst und die Software Entwicklung, im 3.OG wird ein großer Seminarraum für Kundenschulungen und Hausmessen eingerichtet.
Dieses Projekt wird aus Mitteln des Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung kofinanziert.
